xicu
Xicu is the musical project of Barcelona-born Cesc Valverde, a voice that has turned love, pain, and emotional fragility into raw artistic material. His music moves between experimental pop, hyperpop, and haunting distortion, building a sound universe that breaks conventions and redefines the limits of what we call pop music.
His early work revealed a more introspective outlook, shaped by silence and solitude. Over time, Xicu has evolved into a more radical and intense soundscape: layers of trap, synth pop, and urban experimentation blend with hypnotic loops, bursts of rhythm, and moments of delicate calm, crafting a sonic experience that is both cathartic and intimate.
Throughout his journey, Xicu has shared his universe with names such as Maria Hein, Julieta, and Socunbohemio, always from his own unique and uncompromising position. His vision has already taken him to renowned festivals and stages like Primavera Sound (performing at Primavera Pro) and Festival Vida, establishing himself as one of the most singular and fearless voices in the Catalan emerging scene.
Inspired by artists like Playboi Carti and Ethel Cain, Xicu has developed an artistic outlook that drifts away from the mainstream and embraces contradiction: pain as a driving force, beauty within discomfort, and fragility turned into strength. His work is restless, emotional, and deeply contemporary, capable of transforming personal experience into a collective language.
